Folk band Mumford & Sons is being forced to cancel several tour dates after bassist Ted Dwane was hospitalized on Monday night.

The band revealed on its website that Dwane hadn't been feeling well when doctors discovered a blood clot in his brain, prompting surgery to be scheduled, the band wrote on its website

"Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment," the band wrote. "The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery."

Although a blood clot is nothing to sniff at, it seems that the bassist and the band aren't expecting it to set them back too far. Only three tour dates have been cancelled at this point: Tuesday night in Dallas, Wednesday in Woodlands, TX and Thursday in New Orleans. The band said that it plans on rescheduling and making up the appearances as soon as possible.

The band is schedule to play the Bonnaroo music festival in Manchester, TN on Saturday and at the moment, the band's site indicates that show will go on. The group's regular tour schedule picks up on Monday and continues in the United States until June 22, when the band is set to fly back to the U.K. The U.S. tour wraps up in Telluride, CO, and fans should probably expect the cancelled dates to be squeezed in the last eight days before the band flies to England.

Mumford & Sons has risen to mainstream prominence in the last year since winning the Best Album Grammy for the band's most recent release, "Babel" earlier this year.
