The latest twist in the ongoing drama following the attempted suicide of Michael Jackson's daughter Paris is the reemergence of birth mother Debbie Rowe as a possible guardian for the troubled teen.
Rowe didn't demand that the child be turned over to her for custody, but she stated that she would be more than willing if it was in Paris's best interests. A judge recently ordered an investigation into the case, and it's been speculated that Paris is detached from legal guardian Katherine Jackson, her grandmother, and apparently has been reaching out more to Rowe.
TMZ has reported that the Jackson family is apparently defensive about the idea of turning over Paris, but according to TMZ's "sources," the family is also not accusing Rowe of doing it for money either.
Rowe met Michael Jackson when he was undergoing dermatology treatment following his divorce from Lisa Marie Presley. Rowe announced she was pregnant in 1996 with Michael "Prince" Jackson Jr. and she gave birth to Paris in 1998. Just a few months later, Rowe filed for divorce from Michael and granted him full custody rights, and she was granted limited visitation rights.
The final decision will come down to whether the judge believes Katherine Jackson is capable of offering Paris a healthy amount of attention. Another possible factor is Paris's preference. TMZ's same sources suggested that the teen would be more than happy to live with her biological mother instead. After all, one of the factors possibly leading up to the suicide attempt was being barred from attending a concert. There could be deeper conflict at home.
On the other hand, the Jackson children are also tied in with Katherine as part of a $40 billion dollar lawsuit.
