Though MStars reported earlier today that a premature release of Kanye West's sixth studio album, was highly unlikely, it seems as though the impossible has happened: SPIN reports that Yeezus has, in fact, leaked.

The news of a leak hit the web shortly after 12:30 p.m. today, when an illegal version of the record was uploaded to file sharing site What.cd. Since then, files of the album and single songs have apparently been zooming around the 'net.

Even though downloads of the album are spreading like wildfire, links to the illegal copies are being taken down at a pace that's just as rapid. Links to the album are also apparently crashing servers for sites unable to withstand the high levels of traffic.

As of press time, both "Yeezus" and "Kanye" are trending on Twitter, where fans are eagerly bragging about obtaining the leaked, 10-track long album.

Yeezus's leak surely must come as a disappointment to West, who has taken great precautionary measures to ensure this exact event did not happen. West and his crew avoided sending files through email, working in big studios and mastering the CD until the very last minute. Even eliminating iTunes preorders, a common way for albums to leak, did not work for this highly anticipated record.

Eager listeners should be weary of viruses, which can easily be tagged onto a hot download such as this. Fans looking for copies of Yeezus in advance can look forward to a winding hunt on the Internet. But at the pace this news is spreading, soon it shouldn't be too terribly hard to find.

Yeezus will officially hit record stores and digital distributors on Tuesday, June 18. It's the much-anticipated follow up to West's 2012 collaboration with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne, which did avoid a pre-release leak.
