J. Cole has a lot to prove with his sophomore album Born Sinner. The Roc Nation rapper challenged Kanye West to a battle, and even made song directed at another rap legend Nas. Cole sat down with BET to recount the moment he played "Let Nas Down," for the Queens spitter.

Despite Nas disliking J.Cole's "Work Out," according to Cole, he redeemed himself as Nas was pleasantly pleased with "Let Nas Down."

Cole told BET:

"I was telling people, this album has so many moments that connected that let me know I was doing the right thing, and that was one of them. I give [Nas] my headphones, I'm trying to hear what part of the song he's on, cause he's behind me. About a minute in to the song, he's just like, "Whooo!" beating my chair, just banging my chair. Overall, he was wild, the look on his face was like, honored, honored that I would make that, and also highly impressed. So that was a huge moment for me."

On "Let Nas Down" Cole is vulnerable and honest as raps about how he met Nas, and the shock of being praised by one of the greatest, whom he disappointed in the past. Over a soulful saxophone lead beat  Cole raps, "Long live the idols, may they never be your idols. Pac was like Jesus, Nas wrote the Bible."
