Paris Jackson made an appearance at the proceedings for her family's $40 billion lawsuit against AEG Live, albeit in a filmed deposition. The daughter of Michael Jackson has been held for observation and care at the UCLA Medical Center for nearly two weeks following her attempted suicide.
The footage was actually used by lawyers for AEG, and not on the Jackson family's behalf. The family has accused the concert promoter of causing Jackson's death by hiring a medical professional who prescribed irresponsible numbers of pills for the pop star. The family has also alleged that the company tried to control everything around Jackson, including his home life, which they claim caused undue stress. Paris's video testimony that was filmed in March, two months before her suicide attempt, features the teen disparaging former nanny Grace Rwaramba, one of the employees dismissed by AEG.
Paris's testimony is somewhat shocking unto itself. She said Rwaramba claimed on occasions to be Jackson's wife, and would sometimes sneak into bed with the singer. "This is going to freak you out," Paris said before telling the story to lawyers in the clip.
The video was used to counteract the claims of the Jackson family that Rwaramba was adored by the family. The company hasn't admitted to actually firing the woman, but it seems odd that rather than counteract the accusations, they counteract the claims that the nanny was beloved. Paris has aged from 11 to 15 since the events took place, so it's also logical that her interpretation of Rwaramba's behavior has changed.
Jackson's former chef Kai Chase, who was temporarily relieved of duty in 2009, questioned Paris's comments.
"(Paris) was very close with Grace when she was younger," she said.
