Police have announced a motive in the killing of rapper Lil Snupe that's tragically mundane: the 18 year-old emcee was killed in a dispute over a bet on a video game.
Snupe, born Addarren Ross, was killed on Thursday in Winnfield, LA. Police listed the suspect as Tony Holden, the 36 year-old who owned the apartment at which Snupe was shot.
Snupe was signed to Dream Chasers, the label owned and operated by rapper Meek Mill. Mill has since released a video tribute to his deceased protégé, placed over Snupe's track from earlier in 2013 titled "Nobody," which now features a guest verse from Mill. The video consists of a montage of Snupe performing in the studio and onstage, and features the text "May You Rest in Peace...Forever a DreamChaser."
The sucker punch is when the song fades out. The track's been edited do the last line is "..and I refuse to let my mama lose me to some bulls---."
Mill was in shock at the news when it broke, tweeting desperately for the deceased rapper to respond to him.
"He was spittin' so much pain, he's from the south with a flow like an east coast guy," Meek previously told MTV of Lil Snupe. "Like with that bounce flow, all over the place, he really can spit, and he was talking that talk that I can really relate to. I seen potential in him."
Holden, a previously convicted felon, has yet to be captured by police following the incident.
The incident happened just a week after the rapper's 18th birthday, with him tweeting tragically on June 13 that he was "Blessed 2 see 18."
