Aly & AJ Michalka, of 78 Violet, released their album art for the upcoming album 'Hothouse' on Just Jared and will be performing their first live show in five years at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood tonight at 7:30 p.m.

The sister singing, acting and performing duo has been performing pop-rock music since their 2005 debut with their album 'Into The Rush.'  The album went plantain, and included popular hits like 'Into the Rush,' and 'No One.'  In 2006, the duo released a deluxe version of 'Into The Rush' that contained their hit song, 'Chemicals React.'  In addition to popular songs, the sisters also produced a contemporary Christian song, in 2006, called 'Never Far Behind,' which was released exclusively by the Christian store and saw success on Christian radio stations nation-wide.  Then, in 2007 Aly & AJ produced their album, 'Insomniatic,' which featured their well-known, 'Potential Breakup Song.'

The sisters have been performing since a young age when they began playing piano and acting.  Their full names are Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka and they were born in Los Angeles, California.  They moved to Seattle in the early 90s only to return to California in pursuit of serious acting and performing careers.

Aly has had experience taking on the role of Keely Teslow on the Disney Channel series 'Phil of the Future,' and this allowed her to show off her acting skills as well as her musical abilities, as she performed songs such as, 'Protecting Me,' on the show.  More recently, Aly has acted in films like 'Bandslam' (2009), 'Easy A' (2010), and 'The Roommate' (2011).  Meanwhile, AJ has taken on roles and appearances on a number of shows as well, including Birds of Prey, Oliver Beene, General Hospital, and Six Feet Under.  She has recently taken on rolls in 'The Lovely Bones' (2009), 'Secretariat' (2010), and 'Super 8' (2011).  AJ will also be appearing in the 2013 films 'Angels in Stardust,' and 'Grace Uplugged.'

The sisters have worked together to record a cover of the Lovin' Spoonful's song, 'Do You Believe in Magic,' which appeared in the Disney Channel's 'Now You See It' and became a number one most-requested song on Radio Disney at that time. After that, they released their single entitled, 'No One,' which appeared on the soundtrack to 2005's 'Ice Princess.'  The sisters also collaborated to produce a holiday album, 'Acoustic Hearts Of Winter' in 2006.  The both starred in the film 'Cow Bells' in 2006 as well.

They will be performing live tonight (June 26) at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, California for the first time in 5 years.  In addition, they are scheduled to perform again in The Gramercy Theatre in New York City on July 9, at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets and Meet & Greet packages are available for those performances.  Their new album, 'Hothouse' is expected to be released on July 8.
