Aerosmith has a long history of conflicts, particularly between vocalist Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry, but that's not the case in 2013. Tyler may be amping up for his first solo album, but that doesn't mean Aerosmith is done.

Tyler plans on the album to come out either in October or November of 2014, although he hasn't entered the studio to record anything yet. He told Rolling Stone that much of the work will be with longtime collaborator Marti Fredericksen, the cowriter of "Jaded" among other Aerosmith tracks.

"I've got pieces of me that are a little bit more than Aerosmith," he said. "This gives me the freedom to write a song on trashcan lids or with the Boston Pops or an oboe and a harpsichord . . . Working on my own is a weird thought. It's kind of like being married and your wife says you can go hang out with your girlfriend."

Tyler waved aside rumors of the album hinting at bad chemistry within the band, pointing out that Perry has released six solo albums during Aerosmith's career.

Perry isn't working on any new music for 2014, but he is getting ready to write a memoir along with ghostwriter David Ritz. Ritz will have the tough job of getting all the important details out of Perry and assembling them in the right order.

"Somebody that I know that was there with me at the time can remind me," Perry said. "But the real problem is when a lot of stuff happens in a short amount of time. Getting the chronology right is a b----. But my wife has been by my side for the last 30 years, pretty much the whole time. She can jog my memory."

For now, Aerosmith is celebrating the launch of "Rock For The Rising Sun," a tour DVD that shows the band's tour of the nation following 2011's massive earthquake.

"We were uneasy about the radiation," Perry said. "We definitely went over with Geiger counters and kind of watched the levels. It was pretty scary."
