Striking terror into the hearts of one's opponent is a helpful skill for someone looking to enter professional wrestling. Or politics. Or...both? No word yet on whether wrestler Kane is taking suggestions of entering the political realm seriously, but the grappler was seen on Saturday taking part in a political fundraiser for Republican and former Libertarian presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Rumor has it that Paul is suggesting that Kane (real name: Glen Jacobs) run for public office. Jacobs hasn't had any previous experience as a politician, but he's had some success as a "leader" within the WWE. Jacobs has held the World Champion belt three times under the Kane alias. And he seems to have at least a mild interest in politics if he's attending fundraisers for folks like Paul.
Jacobs wasn't the only celebrity in attendance however. Actor Vince Vaughn also took part in Paul's annual BBQ in Lake Jackson, TX. A photo of the two together might fool a casual viewer. Jacobs certainly didn't wear the red mask his character is known for, and he seems somewhat short based on the information provided by WWE. Vaughn is far from short, listed at 6'5", and Jacobs seems to be about the same height in the image, although he's listed as 7'0" by the WWE. Also, Jacobs looks rather scholarly, wearing glasses and a pale, yellow t-shirt.
Another image shows the wrestler shaking hands with Paul and smiling, far from the frightening image he's projected for nearly 16 years. If Kane chose to enter politics, he wouldn't be the first professional wrestler to enter that ring. Jesse Ventura enjoyed a short stint as Minnesota's governor during the early 2000s.
