Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail seems to have come out of nowhere, and The Dream confirms that it is indeed true-somewhat. Following Timbaland’s exclusive interview, The Dream recently sat down with Revolt TV to talk about writing the opening song “Holy Grail” featuring Justin Timberlake and how Jay-Z’s twelfth studio album only took about two weeks to complete over, but what a movement in the making for years.

The Dream told Revolt TV that he wrote “Holy Grail” about two years ago when Jay-Z and Kanye West were working on Watch The Throne. He revealed that he called Jay-Z to tell him that he wanted to work on his project and how he felt the direction he was going in was a “Divinci” type feel.

While the Dream wrote the original track, Timbaland added the drums and Justin Timbaland to complete the sound. In his interview Dream introduced the energy and feeling behind the song and his song writing process for the album, which he described as a “ghetto God” feeling.
