Nana Meriwether, Miss USA 2012 Online Dating [PHOTOS]: Beauty Queen Admits to Using New App Tinder to Find Love in NYC

Those of you are familiar with the free dating app Tinder wouldn't assume that someone like Nana Meriwether, Miss USA 2012, would have an account. Well, you would be wrong. The beauty pageant winner is single and looking for love in every way she can. Sounds just like everyone else you come across on the app and other online dating services, right? That's because, as she puts it, "Even pageant-title-holders get lonely." 

Living in New York City might be a hectic experience in itself, but even Miss USA has trouble in the dating scene! She admits that most suitors are too busy to remember to go on a second date, so she signed up for Tinder, the free Smartphone application that lets you know of other interested people in your area.

"It's funny - the guys I've said yes to have all been like, 'Are you real?' I'm like, 'Yeah, of course.' Even pageant-title-holders get lonely," she told The Cut.

"Mostly I joined because a friend told me to, but I think it could be a great way to meet people, especially in New York City. I think when you're single, you should try all avenues. And now there are so many new apps for dating - this one is just really fun," she said of the app.

Clearly, Tinder is enjoying the new fan and the great publicity from Nana's experience.

"We are thrilled that the former Miss USA is a Tinder user," Rosette Pambakian, one of Tinder's publicists, said.

"Tinder has not paid for her endorsement - this was organic," she explained. "She is one of many celebrities who use Tinder and none of them have been hired by Tinder or compensated for an endorsement."

For those of you who are not familiar with this new dating app, Tinder started out as a "hook-up" service for those looking for that type of connection but soon changed its platform to a more respectable dating service.

"Tinder is not your typical dating app," Pambakian added. "It's a new approach to meeting new people. Tinder is different from other apps because it gives you control over who you want to connect with so that you're not constantly bombarded by messages or approached by people you don't want to match with... And it's not just for dating - it's used to find new friends and for networking as well."
