When we say "Michael Jordan," odds are you think of the greatest NBA basketball player of all time, the guy with six NBA titles, and the line of sneakers that people kill for. But when we say Michael Jordan the actor, we aren't talking about the all-star's role in "Space Jam" anymore. We're referring to his son, Michael B. Jordan, the star of the new hit film "Fruitvale Station."

"(His father wanted him) to want to be great at something, because when you hear that name, your mind immediately goes to him." Jordan the younger said. "From an early age, I wanted people to think of myself first when they hear that name - at least sometimes."

He's starting to live up to that hope even with the mountain he has to live up to. Michael B. got his start in acting by playing the youth character Wallace in the renowned series "The Wire," now 26 years old, is playing protagonist Oscar Grant in "Station," which tells the story of a troubled youth in Oakland who is gunned down by a police officer. It's a role that requires many shades of gray; Although Grant was mercilessly killed without cause, the rest of his life was rife with drug dealing and other bad behavior that pointed to an unfortunate end. Jordan's portrayal of the character has generated some early Best Actor nomination buss for his gritty performance. The film received a six-minute ovation when it debuted at the Cannes Film Festival. It opens in the U.S. Friday.

There are rumors that Jordan is in line to play the next version of the Human Torch in an upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie. Some have objected to a black Torch, but the actor thinks they should get a life.

"Johnny Storm is charismatic, a playboy, and he's American - that's it," he said. "The best actor for the role should get it. Period. It's 2013, and if you have an issue with a multicultural cast, that's your problem."
