Lil Wayne 'God Bless Amerika' Drops Hometown Visuals Behind American Flag Controversy

On the heels after the conclusions of the Trayvon Martin trial, Lil Wayne dropped the visuals for his highly anticipated video "God Bless Amerika" Monday. The patriotic video was shot in his hometown in Hollygrove, New Orleans and directed by Eif Rivera.

The video focuses on the people and the community who are still suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. While the video has a positive connotation, photos of Weezy on set leaked in June, fueling controversy as images of the Young Money Boss surfaced of him stepping on the American Flag. As his fans demanded answers, Lil Tunechi released a statement stating that it was all just a misunderstanding.

"It was never my intention to desecrate the flag of the United States of America. I was shooting a video for a song off my album entitled "God Bless Amerika". The clip that surfaced on the Internet was a camera trick clip that revealed that behind the American Flag was the Hoods of America. In the final edit of the video you will see the flag fall to reveal what is behind it but will never see it on the ground."
