James Franco, Guest Star on 'The Mindy Project' Season Two: 'Spring Breakers' Actor Joins Likes of Seth Rogen, Bill Hader on FOX Show Guest Appearance List

James Franco will join a long list of actors to guest on the FOX show The Mindy Project, when he has a two-episode arc on the show's second season premiere and the following episode.

According to a press release on the TV show's Facebook page, the "Spring Breakers" actor will be taking Mindy Kaling's character, Mindy Lahiri's, place at the hospital while Lahiri is in Haiti on a missions trip. Franco as Dr. Paul Leotard, will be a "charismatic and popular doctor."

Leotard will be a former fashion model, who changed his life path and career after a pregnant woman saved him during a fashion week runway show. He then wanted to repay his savoir by helping out pregnant woman all across the country.

The press release says nothing about Franco's character's competence as an OB/GYN.

The last season of The Mindy Project found Kaling's character chopping off all her hair and committing to go to Haiti with her boyfriend, Pastor Casey (played by Anders Holm from Workaholics) for a year. Because of Lahiri's fickle nature and Franco's small two episode arc, it can only be assumed she does not make it the whole 12 months.

Franco joins Seth Rogen, BJ Novack, Seth Meyers, Ed Helms, Bill Hader, Ellie Kemper, Allison Williams and more as a guest actor on the hit TV show.

Romantic comedy sitcom The Mindy Project's second season will begin Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 9:30 p.m. on FOX.
