Rappers have been subject to scrutiny for controversial lyrics a lot as of late. "Born Sinner" rapper J.Cole is the latest rapper to come up the microscope for his lyrics on the "Jodeci Freestyle" featuring Drake. The Anti-Bullying Alliance started a petition Monday (which gathered over 4,000 signatures) to decry Cole's lyrics, "I'm artistic, you n*ggas is autistic, retarded."  Since then both Drake and J.Cole have apologized for the offense.

After realizing he offended people with autism, Cole kept it organic going back to his paper and pen to write a heatfelt apology to Austism Speaks. Drake followed suit by removing the lyrics from the song entirely. The "Motions" rapper issued his own sincere statement vis his website; October's Very Own Monday blog night.

Drake wrote:

J.Cole wrote a beautiful and moving apology to individuals and families affected by autism who were understandably hurt by a verse in "Jodeci Freestyle". I share responsibility and offer my sincerest apologies for the pain this has caused. Individuals with autism have brilliant and creative minds, and their gifts should not be disparaged or discounted. This was a learning lesson for both of us, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to try to right this wrong. J. Cole and I believe that it is the right, responsible, and respectful decision to remove the lyric from the song.

Cole issued a 4,000 word apology accepting responsibility for the lyrics. Cole wrote:

"I do not believe that an apology is needed every time someone is offended, especially when that apology is really only for the sake of saving an endorsement or cleaning up bad press," Cole stated in a letter that he posted on his site. "With that said, this is not the case today. This letter is sincere. This apology IS necessary."
