Rapper Jay Z and singer/ Civil Rights activist Harry Belafonte have been feuding for over a year at this point and it seems like the "Banana Boat" singer is finally ready to put an end to this beef. In an interview with MSNBC, HBF extended the olive branch to HOV and Beyonce.

"I would hope with all my heart that Jay Z would not take personally what was said because it was not said about him personally," Belafonte said, in the middle of a discussion about the Dream Defenders and Florida's Stand Your Ground law. "I would like to take this opportunity to say to Jay Z and to Beyonce, I'm wide open. My heart is filled with nothing but the hope of the promise that we could sit and have a one on one and let's understand each other rather than trying to answer these questions and answer these nuances in a public place."

For those who might not remember, Belafonte kicked off this fight by calling out Jay-Z and Beyonce as black superstars who had "turned their back on social responsibility" by not using their time in the spotlight to uplift the Arfican-American community.

"I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities. But they have turned their back on social responsibility," the Calypso singer said in an interview with THR. He then went on to cite Bruce Springsteen as an example of an artist who used his fame for good.

Jigga shot back, saying "You're this Civil Rights activist and you just big'd up the white guy against me in the white media."

Then, long after the fued seemed to have died down, HOV dropped the following lines in "Nickels and Dimes" off Magna Carta...Holy Grail.

"I'm just trying to find common ground,
'fore Mr. Belafonte come and chop a nígga down,
Mr. Day O, major fail,
Respect these youngins boy, it's my time now,
Hublot homie, two door homie
You don't know all the shít I do for the homies."

Not only did Jay call Belafonte out by name, he referred to him as "boy," which is not only disrespectful but comes laden with connotations of a pre-Civil Rights Act America that Belafonte actively fought to change.

However, rather than get caught up in the crossfire, Belafonte is ready to lay down arms.
