The new judges' panel for Season 3 of The X Factor USA appeared at the Television Critics Association press tour and talked about some of the changes in the upcoming season.

Simon Cowell, who also serves as executive producer, said he and new judges Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio, along with returning judge Demi Lovato, have blended well together.

"I feel really comfortable with the girls and I think it's going to be the best show we've made so far," Cowell said, according to TVLine. "It's got an energy about it this year which has been lacking before. So, I'm confident."

Cowell also said that his confidence comes from the judges' panel's uniqueness.

"It just felt that with all the shows, the judging panels were beginning to look the same," Cowell said. "Most importantly, when we sat down and spoke to [Lovato, Rowland and Rubio], it was really, how passionate are you about doing this job properly, working with the artist properly and actually trying to find a star at the end?"

Cowell also responded to "The Voice" judge Adam Levine's recent comments about singing competitions. The Maroon 5 singer said the following, according to MJ's Big Blog:

"I think it would be really nice to launch a huge star. A lot of things have to happen in order for that to take place. I think the goal of the show is to do what we can do for these amazing singers while they're on the show ... I think that we all know that the lightning in a bottle you have to capture to be successful in this business is extraordinary difficult. I'm not sure that that is the overall mission statement of the show. I think it would be really amazing if that happened. Because it hasn't happened yet doesn't seem like a shortcoming of the show, it just seems like something that hasn't happened yet. I would love that. We would all love that.

Depending on how you define success, there's been a lot of success from people who've been on this show."

Cowell spoke to that and disagreed:

"No show can survive without that. You're making a promise to the contestants that you're going to try to turn them into a real-life artist...It's not a guarantee, but that's your [goal]...That's why we make the show."
