50 Cent Charged With Domestic Abuse UPDATE: Rapper Due In Court Today, Faces Five Years In Prison

Rapper 50 Cent will appear in court today over domestic violence charges from his ex-girlfriend after he allegedly beat and damaged her home.

According to Associated Press, the rapper caused $7,100 worth of damage and could land in prison for five years if convicted and slapped with a $46,000 fine.

The rapper's attorney, Scott Leemo released a statement saying: "Curtis Jackson denies these allegations as made against him. It is important to note, Mr. Jackson has not been arrested and there is no warrant outstanding for his arrest." He continued "(We) are currently conducting our own investigation into these allegations."

The city's attorney Mike Feuer released a statement based on the the rapper's celebrity saying: ''Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime, and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office.''

After the altercation the Hip Hop mogul was accused of sending his son, Marquise Jackson, 16, an explicit verbal attack through text.
