On Wednesday (July 31), American rap-rock band Bloodhound Gang played a show in the Ukranian town of Odessa - and apparently bassist Jared Hasselhoff (real name, Jared Victor Hennegan) isn't a huge fan of Russian President Vladimir Putin. While onstage, Hasselhoff took a Russian flag and stuck it down his pants. The government (and several concert-goers) were not amused. The "Bad Touch" rockers were immediately banned from Russia, and now officials are currently investigating the "cynical crime."

Check out the viral clip below - Hasselhoff stuffs the flag down his pants and yells to the crowd, "Don't tell (Russian President Vladimir) Putin!" He then throws the soiled fabric into the audience:

Some of Hasselhoff's band mates didn't agree with his inappropriate actions. Frontman Jimmy Pop told the crowd, "Russia is better than America... so I disapprove of that."

Apparently, Hasselhoff had urinated on the Russian flag during another concert the night before.

Bloodhound Gang was set to perform at Russia's Kubana Music Festival over the weekend, but they were banned from the country following Hasselhoff's disrespectful "show." The performances were canceled. According to Rolling Stone, culture minister Vladimir Medinsky tweeted on Friday, "Bloodhound Gang packing suitcases. These idiots won't perform in Kubana."

Apparently, local residents assaulted the musicians with eggs and tomatoes as the band finally headed out of Anapa (a town close to the Russian venue where the show was canceled). As Bloodhound Gang was being departed at the airport (after having their visas cut short) they were physically assaulted by Russian nationalists. One attacker tried smothering a band member with an American flag.

Hasselhoff and the band later apologized - insisting that it's tradition that anything thrown from the stage must first "take a trip through the pants" - but it remains unknown if Russia's top law enforcement agency will consider pressing charges. Investigators are currently looking into the situation.

The agency recently released a statement claiming, "Considering the cynicism of the said crime, which expressed clear disrespect for the Russian state... the Investigative Committee has organised a procedural check... The investigation will evaluate everyone connected with this crime, from the actual perpetrators to its organizers.Inquiries for legal assistance will be sent to the United States and Ukraine soon."

According to Russian criminal law, desecration of the Russian flag could lead up to a one-year jail sentence
