Dierks Bentley: Following Footsteps of Johnny Cash, Running From Police?

Somebody call the po-po! Dierks Bentley is in the house and it would seem that he is packing a little heat. Dierks Bentley came out with "What Was I Thinkin" a long time ago in 2003. Now the guy has another song about outrunning police which got us thinking.. could this be the next Johnny Cash?

Johnny Cash was well known for going against the societal grain. He would always do the opposite of what he was "supposed to do" cheating on his first wife with his second wife, doing all kinds of drugs.. the guy wasn't exactly a follower of the law. When everyone said he was crazy for playing a concert in a prison at Folsom, he was gawked at and called an idiot. Well, look where he is now. He is a legend of country music, and no one remembers Johnny Cash as a bad guy, just a bad boy.

Now Dierks Bentley is out on the country stage popping out song after song about women in white tank tops, and running from the police in some respect. While he talks about it a little more subtly than Johnny Cash did, the elements are still there. So that just begs the question, is Dierks on the verge of making a huge career move? Possibly following the same path as Johnny Cash? No one can really know the answer to that. We will just have to see what happened here in the future.
