Is new music from Florence Welch on the way?

Today (Aug. 15), NME reported that producer MNEK is in the studio with the "Dog Days Are Over" songstress, and it seems as though that is, in fact the case. Initially, MNEK tweeted simply "In studio with @flo_tweetz for the next 3 dayzzz" to little buzz. Eventually, though, other outlets, including Gigwise, picked up the story.

MNEK then elaborated on some of his plans with Florence Welch, following a mild Twitter freakout from an avid Florence + The Machine fan.

To that, MNEK simply wrote: "That young lady seems mighty pressed. Can't please everyone," implying there may be some electronic Welch music on the way.

MNEK is a producer, songwriter and remixer best known for working with artists such as Tinie Tempah, Olly Murs and British electronica outfit Rudimental.

Though @AGiftWithAPrice may be upset by a new, more R&B or electronica direction from and Florence + The Machine, it's not a completely unfounded accusation. Not only is MNEK an electronic-friendly producer, but Welch recently found success in the EDM market.

Her collaboration with Calvin Harris, 2012's "Sweet Nothing" from the producer's "18 Months" album, was a Top 10 hit in the US and reached No. 1 on the UK charts. The explosive track featured Welch's strong vocals over a stop-and-go electronic beat, proving that the two do actually blend together quite well.

However, Florence + The Machine's most recent effort "Over The Love" from "The Great Gatsby" soundtrack is a more traditional effort from Welch, with her strong voice restrained with simple backing from a piano.

It's not clear what exactly the session with MNEK means for Welch, but it is possible that she is working on her third studio album. Her last effort, "Ceremonials," was released in 2011 and featured the hit "Shake It Out."
