Childish Gambino Drops Short Film/ Possible New Album Preview 'Clapping For The Wrong Reasons' [WATCH]

Childish Gambino has debuted a new short film called "Clapping For The Wrong Reasons." The nearly 30-minute-long clip features Danielle Fischel (Topanga from Boy Meets World) Abella Anderson, Flying Lotus, Chance the Rapper and Trinidad Jame$ and may serve as a preview for his upcoming album.

The clip is a bit hard-to-follow but it seems to revolve around Gambino trying to determine the identity of a girl he woke up next to. He wanders the house, works on music and talks to famous folk. Along the way, there's a karate sequence set to acoustic music, weird conversations between Gambino and co, a nosebleed that reveals an embedded gold tooth and two conversations on landline phones. The clip has a bit of a twist ending that I don't want to spoil, but is largely a wandering mess in the middle.

That's what led me to believe that the film might be an album preview. The scenes in the film all seem like disjointed vignettes, with the famous rappers and guest stars appearing in some scenes but not others. There's also the matter of never-before-heard raps and beats that are peppered throughout the film. Will Trinidad Jame$, Chance the Rapper and Flying Lotus appear on Gambino's followup to Camp? I wouldn't put money on it, but it is an intriguing possibility.
