Indie rock band Interpol is apparently back in the studio. According to guitarist Daniel Kessler on the band's official Twitter, the trio is in Brooklyn, New York, writing and recording new music.

"We're back in the Brooklyn grind. Working on new tunes-DK," he wrote on Aug. 13. The following day, he gave fans an update: "We had a good rehearsal yesterday. Started working on a new tune. We were all digging it.-DK."

The sessions in the "Evil" band's hometown must be going well. Yesterday (Aug. 15), Kessler posted a third tweet about Interpol's studio progress, and things seem to be chugging right along. "And wouldn't ya know it...we started working on another tune yesterday. August be a breeding groud.-DK," he wrote to their 89,000 followers.

Little more information about the band's fifth studio album is available. However, rehearsals began in February, according to Kessler on Twitter.

The new release will be the follow-up to 2010's "Interpol" and the group's first studio album without bassist Carlos Dengler. After internal struggles in the band for years, Dengler left Interpol shortly after "Interpol" was completed. The following tour featured Slint's David Pajo on bass and other rotating members.

Interpol has yet to announce who will be playing bass on the new album or if there will even be a permanent replacement for Dengler.

Interpol's last release was a 10-year anniversary edition of their debut album "Turn On The Bright Lights," which hit shelves in December 2012. The extended release included never-before-seen photos, demos and B-sides to the highly-acclaimed record.
