It seems that having Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on the same stage just wasn't enough ego for FOX producers. According to Us Weekly, Kanye West was offered a judge's slot on Season 13 of the flagging singing competition. The Yeezus rapper reportedly turned down the offer fearing it would harm his reputation as an artist.
"He didn't want to go that mainstream," the unnamed source told the rag. "He didn't want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down."
However, there were a number of less scrupulous music-makers just chomping at the bit for a slot on the Idol stage.

The insider notes that Idol producers also met with three other contenders for the spot: Will.i.am, Sean "Diddy" Combs, and Rodney Jerkins. In the end, though, their top choice appears to be songwriter and record producer Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald)...
Dr. Luke -- who's worked magic with the likes of Ke$ha, Katy Perry, and Britney Spears -- is currently in talks to become the third judge on the FOX reality competition. He would join Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez, who served on the panel in 2011 and 2012 and recently signed on again to take one of the spots left by departing judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Randy Jackson.
What do you think of the news that Kanye West was offered a role on Season 13 of American Idol? Would you watch it again if Yeezy said yes?
