#RIPOneDirection is currently trending on Twitter... but no fear, One Directioners, this is NOT a death hoax! Apparently, some prankster (or perhaps hardcore Taylor Swift fan) started the hashtag earlier this week. But fans of the popular boy band turned the whole thing around in a positive way - RIP now stands for "Really Inspiring People." Sort of morbid, but that's the phrase that's currently going viral before the premiere of 1D's concert film, "One Direction: This Is Us."

Check out some of the #RIPOneDirection fan tweets:

@Elma_Official1: "#RIPOneDirection is trending, but obviously that means R-really I-inspiring P-people. So nothing to worry about."

@ClyoVillalobos: "RIP = really inspiring people. This is the only way #RIPOneDirection trending is okay."

@biancagarcia559: "#RIPOneDirection You mean: R- really I- inspiring P-people Aw, I know. They are really inspiring. You finally realized it."

Still, several Directioners were NOT amused, even if the whole thing's just a joke:

@FinchelFanatic: "#RIPOneDirection isn't funny. Directioner here, who has already lost an idol this year, and knows what it feels like. The pain is horrible."

@KellyCStagram: "Whoever started #RIPOneDirection trend. You're jealous because Lady Gaga and Rihanna are at our side mothertrucker!"

@SurfingwithCory: "#RIPOneDirection is still trending? Seriously it's the most hurtful trend especially for someone who really lost an Idol."

@Hamada_Cena: "#RIPOneDirection?? ARE YOU SERIOUS, BRO?? This is very stupid to see such a hashtag trending worldwide on twitter. what's wrong with u guys?"

Apparently, angry fans should go after this guy:

@FlorianCr8: "I created this hashtag #RIPOneDirection to put it in worldwide trend, this is a joke aha!"

Funny.

At least several tweeters put a positive spin on things.

ALL members of One Direction are still alive and well. In fact, their highly anticipated concert film "This Is Us" gets released in the States on Friday, August 30.

Oh, and in reference to Taylor Swift's 1D/Harry Styles diss at the VMAs:
