Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" is an unkillable beast that wiped every other potential air to the song of the summer throne off the face of the Earth with little more than a "Hey hey hey!" (and I, for one, welcome our new Canadian-American overlord). It has sat at the number one spot one Billboard's Hot 100 chart for 12 weeks now, putting it in the rarefied air of "Yeah!", "Lose Yourself", "Smooth" and (I can't believe I'm typing this) "Boom Boom Pow."

Thicke's monsterpiece has held off the likes Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and One Direction and shows no signs of slowing down. It's got four more weeks left before it will tie for longest run of all time, but before we take a look at who "Blurred Lines" needs to pass for a shot at the "Most Popular Song Of All Time" title, lets take a look at the tracks that it has already left in its wake.

At 10 weeks:

We Found Love - Rihanna

Low - Flo Rida featuring T-Pain

Irreplaceable - Beyonce

Gold Digger - Kanye West featuring Jamie Foxx

Dilemma - Nelly featuring Kelly Rowland

Foolish - Ashanti

Maria Maria - Santana featuring the Product G&B

Physical - Olivia Newton-John
You Light Up My Life - Debby Boone

At 11 Weeks:

Independent Women Part I - Destiny's Child
I'll Be Missing You - Puff Daddy & Faith Evans featuring 112
Un-Break My Heart -Toni Braxton
I Swear - All-4-One

(Already this is starting to sting. Knowing that Robin Thicke's name will be placed above Toni Braxton in the history books, it just hurts.)

Now, we'll look at the stiff competition Thicke needs to best for the GOAT title.

13 Weeks

The Boy Is Mine - Brandy & Monica
End of the Road - Boyz II Men

(GAHHHHHH)

14 Weeks

I Gotta Feeling - the Black Eyed Peas
We Belong Together - Mariah Carey
Candle in the Wind 1997"/"Something About the Way You Look Tonight - Elton John
Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix) - Los Del Rio,
I'll Make Love to You - Boyz II Men
I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston

("I Gotta Feeling" deserves to be annihilated. Whitney, tho.)

16 (not a typo) Weeks

One Sweet Day - Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men

Nonononononononono. If "Blurred Lines" overtakes "One Sweet Day" I will oragnize a Hot 100 chart-burning in protest. There is no metric in any universe where "Blurred Lines" should be considered ahead of this song.

If this goes down (largely thanks to the inclusion of YouTube, digital sales and streaming, luxuries not afforded "One Sweet Day") I will hiss "asterisk" through my teeth over and over again like a senile old baseball fan meeting Barry Bonds.

It won't be pretty, but I won't feel bad about it at all. Because "Blurred Lines" beating Mariah and Boyz gift to this Earth is more f**ked up than a soup sandwich.
