Miley Cyrus' performance at the 2013 Video Music Awards last weekend has turned into quite the controversy. But what if the performance also broke up her engagement with her Hunger Games fiancé Liam Hemsworth? According to some reports, Liam's friends are urging him to break up with Miley!

According to some insiders, Liam was straight up embarrassed by his fiancée's performance. Hemsworth's career is just starting to blow up in the States and his friends are worried Miley will have a negative affect on his success. The two have been together for four years, but with plenty of rumors about their stability.

"Liam really does care about Miley, but her racy new look and sort of ghetto attitude isn't exactly what he signed up for," an insider said. "It's not just Liam that Miley is pushing away...his entire team is urging him to part ways with her because she's nothing but negative for his reputation and career."

"Miley knew her performance was going to be outside his comfort zone and she didn't want to be worrying about him in the audience and how he was going to react," another insider said. "The whole thing was just another day of work for her, she wants her album to be number one and that means promoting the hell out of it. She loves Liam and she wants to make him happy but it does seem pretty clear that her own career is the most important thing to her right now and what's wrong with that?"

Thesource added: "Liam is putting his career first, no one is expecting Liam to pick his movie roles based on what will make Miley and her family happy. So why should she base her career on what will make him and his family happy? It's not something she can worry about or it will drive her crazy."

Do you think Miley's love for twerking will be the last straw for Liam?
