Ellie Goulding - Mirrors (Justin Timberlake Cover)

Ellie Goulding is no stranger to covers. She Whitney-Dolly'd Alt-J's "Tessellate" to the point where if you search for the "Alt-J Tessellate" on Google, the video that pops up is Goulding's. So, it's no surprise that during a stop at BBC One's Live Lounge yesterday (September 3), she busted out an acoustic cover of Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors."

While many of the fan comments on this track claim it is "better than the original," I'm going to have to ask them to respectfully slow their roll. The track is certainly interesting, but Goulding clearly struggles with the song, warbling and cracking her way through JT's tenor vocals. I like Goulding as much as the next person, but let's not get crazy. 

On a more positive note: Goulding's bonus-track filled re-release Halcyon Days is killing it with critics. with some calling it "an extension of Ellie's awesomeness" and "a welcome breath of life."
