50 Shades of Grey Movie Cast: Fans PROTEST Charlie Hunnam & Dakota Johnson as Kinky Christian Grey & Anastasia Steele, Petition for Matt Bomer & Alexis Bledel Replacements!

On Labor Day (September 2), "Fifty Shades of Grey" authoress E.L. James officially announced on Twitter that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson would star as kinky onscreen lovers Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the highly-anticipated 2014 film adaptation. And several "Fifty Shades" enthusiasts do NOT approve. In fact, fans are currently protesting such casting! A slew of petitions recently went viral on the web, calling for James to replace Hunnam and Johnson with fan-favorites Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel! Do Mstars readers think there's even a chance?

First, here's what E.L. James tweeted on Monday:

@E_L_James: "I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."

And she didn't leave "Fifty Shades" enthusiasts hanging for much longer...

@E_L_James: "So... Christian..."

@E_L_James: "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."

Well... the naughty expectations of most "Fifty Shades" fans were promptly shattered:

@dulceeey: "saw the cast for 50 Shades of Grey... disappointing...can't imagine the movie without Matt Bomber. #outraged #50ShadesOfGrey #NotImpressed."

@AshesMakini: "I'm not feeling who they cast for the 50 Shades of Grey adaptation... The choice is so odd."

@TwugMe: "Yes, I read 50 Shades of Grey. And I think the dude they picked to play Christian is fugly. Like, super duper can't believe my eyes fugly."

@samstonge: "really, Dakota Johnson as Anastasia in 50 Shades of Grey movie... I don't get it :s."

Ouch.

Some fans are so disappointed, they've started an online petition to REPLACE Hunnam and Johnson on change.org! It already has close to 20,000 signatures! Here's the plea:

Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING.

Maybe we should all give Hunnam and Johnson a chance?

Producer Dana Brunetti eventually responded to all of the casting "hate" on Twitter:

@DanaBrunetti: "There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc."

@DanaBrunetti: "So if your favorite wasn't cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."
