TMZ reports that former Disney cutie Zac Efron entered rehab earlier this year to kick a very serious cocaine addiction. Initially, rumors suggested that the 25-year-old actor was abusing alcohol... but apparently things were much more serious.

Efron stars in Seth Rogan's new comedy "Neighbors" which hits theaters in May 2014. While filming the movie back in April, Efron began partying a little too hard. Things allegedly spiraled out-of-control during this narrow on-set time-frame.

Apparently, Efron was a no-show during several shoots. He was off doing drugs - primarily cocaine and Molly (a pure form of Ecstasy, a popular club/rave drug). One TMZ source reveals, "It was common knowledge he was struggling with cocaine."

Several other sources also confirm Efron's dangerous drug use.

Earlier this year, Efron went on a "coke rager" with some friends at the Skylofts (at Las Vegas' MGM Grand). The guys left $50,000 worth of damage. That's when Efron decided to get some help. He completed his stint in rehab earlier this year and appears to be doing much better.

When TMZ reached out to the star's rep for comment, she said "Don't think we'll be making a comment."
