Kings of Leon are hard at work promoting their sixth studio album "Mechanical Bull," the group's first since 2011's "Come Around Sundown" and the subsequent strife within the Southern family band. Last night (Sept. 26), KoL rocked the house for "Live on Letterman" and played a 45-minute set for some lucky fans, which spanned the entirety of their career.

"How you guys doing?" lead singer Caleb Followill asked quietly before blasting into the lead single and first track from "Mechanical Bull," "Supersoaker."

As he is apt to do, Caleb spoke very little in between songs, allowing for the music to speak for itself. In the meanwhile Nathan, Mattew and Jared Followill played their instruments with a renewed sense of confidence and happiness.

The group then blasted into old school tracks "Taper Jean Girl" and "Four Kicks" before playing "Mechanical Bull" tracks "Temple" and the crawling standout track "Don't Matter."

Though Caleb joked that he was out of shape at one point in the performance, it didn't show in his musical performance. The funky, country-inspired "Mechanical Bull" track "Family Tree" gained a new sense of vigor in the live setting, and old fan favorites like "Crawl" and "Sex on Fire" sounded as good as ever.

Kings of Leon closed out their set with their mega-hit "Use Somebody," which resonated strongly with the small New York crowd.

"Mechanical Bull," the sixth studio album from Kings of Leon, was released on Tuesday (Sept. 24). The successful record blends together all the influences and eras from the Nashville group's 10-year history.
