Nicki Minaj New Album 2014: Release Date Set? Place Among Top Hip-Hop Earners, 'American Idol' Judging Experience

Now that being a judge on "American Idol" is behind her, Nicki Minaj is reportedly getting back into the studio and working on a new album. Despite not coming out with a new album in 2013, Minaj managed to still have a huge year. Minaj came in at number four on Forbes' top hip-hop earners list, earning $29 million this year. Once again, that is without even coming out with a new album! Minaj beat out hip hip superstars such as Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and Wiz Khalifa according to the list of highest paid hip-hop earners. Now, with an album reportedly being worked on for next year, Minaj may just move up that list.

In an interview with E! Online, Minaj revealed that she is working on new music. When asked if she misses working on "American Idol," Minaj emphatically said "no," but did look back fondly on the experience. "It was such a great experience," Minaj said. "I would not trade it for the world. But my heart is in my music and I had to step back and go have different experiences so that I could write my third album because that's the most important thing in my life right now." Minaj went on to tell E! Online that she hopes to have her third album out in 2014.

As for that top hip-hop earners list, Minaj placed in fourth behind only hip-hop legends Diddy, Jay Z, and Dr. Dre. Not bad for Minaj, who still has plenty of time to make it to the top of that list.
