Miley Cyrus Twitter Slams Sinead O'Connor Following Open Letter About Dangers of Music Industry: 'Wrecking Ball' Singer Mocks O'Connor's Mental Health, 1992 'SNL' Performance [PHOTOS]

Nobody tells Miley Cyrus what to do, and that includes one of the people she draws influence from, Sinead O'Connor.

Today (Oct. 2) on her official website, O'Connor posted an open letter to Cyrus about her recent exploits, which include twerking on screen and making controversial, naked music videos. In the open letter, O'Connor wrote that she was inspired to warn Cyrus after she had received numerous phone calls because Cyrus said O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" music video inspired her.

From there, she warned Cyrus about the dangers of the music industry.

"You have enough talent that you don't need to let the music business make a prostitute or you. You shouldn't let them make a fool of you either. Don't think for a moment that any of them give a flying f*ck about you," wrote O'Connor, who also mentioned that Cyrus needn't get naked to get rid of her Hannah Montana image, all she has to do is make great records.

Though O'Connor claimed she wrote the letter "in the spirit of motherliness and with love," Cyrus did not take it that way. The "Wrecking Ball" singer then took to her Twitter to attack O'Connor and her public mental health battles, most notably when O'Connor asked her Twitter followers for a psychiatrist in 2012.

Cyrus' anger at O'Connor's open letter didn't end there. Soon after posting the Twitter screencap, she also reminded followers of O'Connor's infamous 1992 "Saturday Night Live" performance, in which she tore apart a picture of Pope John Paul II.
