Pearl Jam's new album, Lightning Bolt, drops on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and fans have already gotten a peek at the record with the singles "Mind Your Manners" and "Sirens." Guitarist Mike McCready also offered some more insight about the album in a recent interview.

McCready told Exclaim! that "Mind Your Manners" emerged from the intense sessions in the last two years with Pearl Jam's longtime producer, Brendan O'Brien:

"I feel Brendan put us through the grinder and really made us try things in different ways whenever we got together. We accomplished a lot going through that process. It wasn't always enjoyable, but that's okay. Out of that came some cool art. It's silly for me to even complain about it, but I guess what I'm saying is we had to work hard to get to it, and I get a great sense of pride out of that."

He added that he wrote the music for that song with the influence of The Dead Kennedys, but he also noted that "Yellow Moon" pays homage to Neil Young:

"There's certainly a tip of the hat to Neil. That was a song that was initially taken off the first mixes, but I really, really wanted it on there. I just enjoyed the darkness of it, and I thought I did a pretty good lead on it. I worked hard on that; it's kind of a simple lead but I wanted it to give the song some brightness, kind of like what David Gilmour always did with Pink Floyd."
