The Michigan Wolverines and Penn State Nittany Lions will be playing this evening in one of Saturday's bigger college football games. The Big Ten rivals are both having solid seasons as the No. 18 ranked Wolverines try to stay undefeated while heading into University Park. Although the Nittany Lions still aren't the same team they were say five years ago, they continue to improve and make great strides under head coach Bill O'Brien.

Penn State has floundered a bit since starting the season 2-0, but they have shown signs of some offensive firepower behind quarterback Christian Hackenberg's eight touchdowns and over 1,300 yards passing. Wide receiver Allen Robinson has also proven to be a solid threat downfield after torching Indiana last week with 12 catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns.

On the other hand, the Nittany Lions defense has been very inconsistent this season. In their three wins, Penn State's defense has given up a total of 24 points. However, in their two losses their defense has given up 78 points. The Penn State defense will have to find a way to control Wolverines quarterback Devin Gardner, who has proven to be a threat in the air and on the ground.

On the injury front, the Wolverines suffered a big blow when they lost defensive tackle Ondre Pipkins for the season last week with a torn ACL. However, they could see the return of junior linebacker Jake Ryan in tonight's game. In an interview with MGoBlue.com (via MLive), head coach Brady Hoke said Ryan will at least suit up, although it remains to be seen if he will play.
