Saturday night's HBO pay-per-view boxing main event featuring Tim Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez was a much needed entertaining fight for the boxing world. Bradley defeated Marquez in what ended up being an evenly matched, and more importantly, a very entertaining fight. Bradley defended his welterweight title in Vegas and managed to remain unbeaten. It also was a relatively controversy-less fight.

Bradley won via split decision with the judges scoring it 116-112 and 115-113 for Bradley. The last judge scored the match 115-113 for Marquez. The pro-Marquez crowd was not happy with the decision, but by most accounts it was the right decision. Something, that now-a-days can't be taken for granted. Boxing has been marred by controversy and suspect results, so the judges actually getting this decision right should be applauded.

According to the ringside numbers, Bradley connected on 168 of 562 punches compared to 153 of 455 for Marquez. The fight was part chess match and part punch-fest. It had the best of both worlds for fight fans. Towards the end of the fight, both boxers traded wild punches with Bradley connected on a left hook that stunned Marquez and sealed the fight for Bradley who is now unbeaten in 31 fights.

The 40-year-old Marquez put up a great fight for the fans, but Bradley proved to be just too much for him. Marquez fell to 55-7-1 on his career that may be coming to a close very soon. According to ESPN, both fighters earned $4 million for the fight.

Both boxers, like many after a fight, showed a bit of false bravado. Both men felt they were the better fighter. Marquez was not happy after the fight, feeling he had won. "I've been robbed six times in my career," Marquez said (via ESPN). "I clearly won the fight."

Meanwhile, Bradley was his usual confident self after the fight. "He couldn't touch me," Bradley said (via ESPN). "I gave him a boxing lesson."
