HBO's "Girls" will be coming back for season three at the beginning of 2014. The network announced the premiere date for "Girls," the Emmy-winning series starring and directing Lena Dunham. The premiere date is set for Sunday, January 12 at 10pm ET. However, the show will be without one major cast member this upcoming season, as Christopher Abbott, who plays Charlie on the show, is not returning. The official season three trailer has been released, which you can check out below!

The season three premiere will likely begin with a lot of changes from the season two finale "Together." According to ScreenCrush, the casting calls for season three suggest that one of the characters would end up in rehab. Jon Hamm's wife Jennifer Westfeldt has been seen filming on the set. There are also a number of other guest stars including "Boardwalk Empire's Michael Zegen, "Orange is the New Black's" Danielle Brooks, "Doctor Who's" Richard E. Grant, "The To Do List's" Sarah Steele, and more.

Season three has been expanded to 12 episodes and fans can likely expect a lot of the same storylines and humor that made the show such a hit. However, it will be interesting to see how Dunham handle's the departure of Abbott's character Charlie, who got back together with Marnie by the end of season two. There have been plenty of rumors as to the reason for Abbott's decision to not return, but according to him, he didn't relate to his character.

"The world that Lena wrote was very real, especially in New York," Abbot told the New York Times. "But it wasn't as relatable for me on a personal level. It's not that I only like to play roles I know to a T, but there's something satisfying about playing parts where you really relate to the characters."
