NBC has put "Parks and Recreation" on hiatus for the next three weeks according to Vulture. The move is a part of a series of changes by the network as they move shows around and make changes to their evening schedule. NBC announced a number of changes and series cancellations, pushing "Parks and Rec" back a few weeks. Should fans of the Amy Poehler-led sitcom be worried of a cancellation?

The decision to push back the next three episodes of "Parks and Rec" is strange, especially considering they had a Halloween themed episode set to air for the Oct. 31 holiday. Now, instead, the Halloween will air two weeks after Halloween. There must be more to this move than meets the eye right? Why would you air a Halloween themed episode two weeks after the holiday?

Vulture believes the hiatus is to try and get viewers to tune into their new sitcom "Sean Saves the World." Vulture reports that NBC believes its special programming at 8pm will help boost the ratings of the 9pm sitcom starring Sean Hayes. Something, that they apparently don't think "Parks and Rec" could do.

The next three weeks "Parks and Rec" will be replaced by a repeat episode of "The Voice," a Halloween themed "SNL" clip show, then a live airing of "The Voice." "Parks and Rec" will then return for two weeks, before taking a break again until 2014! NBC will reportedly use a number of different programming options in the "Parks and Rec" slot until next year. "Parks and Rec" will then return January 9. New shows "Ironside" and "Welcome to the Family" have already been cancelled by NBC.

Vulture says this doesn't necessarily mean this will be the final season of "Parks and Rec." However, once a network starts putting a show on hiatus and messing with its schedule that usually doesn't help. "Parks and Rec" will likely never be the big ratings winning sitcom NBC wants, but by messing with its schedule like they are doing, they may put the final nail in the show's coffin themselves.
