This past summer 50 Shades of Grey fans were all abuzz that Ian Somerhalder would star as Christian Grey in the 50 Shades movie. That gossip has come to a halt with the recent casting of the lead. Taking its place is speculation over his relationship with ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev, costar in CW's The Vampire Diaries. But Somerhalder is involved with issues outside his personal and professional life, which are just as newsworthy -- just not getting as much publicity: the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF). The goal is "to positively impact the planet and its creatures."

Sounds like a simple statement for such a big mission, but the foundation has laid out very detailed steps and programs to work toward this objective, which includes green energy development and education, and ending animal cruelty. Another one of its aims: "supporting of the most powerful, yet disregarded, disrespected and overlooked population on the planet -- our youth."

Recently, the ISF teamed up with The Vanity Project (TVP) to create some casual-chic shirts that will support the foundation. They're for pre-sale for less than two weeks, so check it out. Shirts are for women, men and children -- no one is left out! They will donate 100 percent of net profits to the ISF.

The foundation launched on Somerhalder's birthday in 2010, and he will turn 35 this December. The foundation's website reads: For my 35th birthday I have a simple goal...Imagine if 1 million of the 7 billion people on earth shared just $35 with the Ian Somerhalder Foundation. We could stop wishing and create change.

Do you think this wish is possible to achieve? What would be the first thing you would change if you could?
