The Notre Dame Fighting Irish host Navy this afternoon in one of college football's most storied rivalries. The Fighting Irish aren't enjoying the same type of success as last season, but they come into Saturday's game the No. 25 team in the country with a 6-2 record. Meanwhile, the Midshipmen are no slouches. Navy boasts one of the top rushing attacks in college football and will look to knock the Fighting Irish out of the top 25. Notre Dame has a lot riding on this game as they still have their eyes set on a national title game.

After a rocky start, Notre Dame has won three straight games. Although I think their two losses will be too much to overcome as it relates to national title game contention, the Fighting Irish could work themselves back into the top 10 with a few more victories.

Unfortunately, Notre Dame will have their hands full versus Navy on Saturday. The Midshipmen are coming off a victory last week against Pittsburgh and have the tenth ranked rushing offense in college football. It's going to be cold and rainy at game time and that will likely benefit the Midshipmen. Whichever team can run the ball more effectively will likely be the winner. The key for Notre Dame will be to slow down the pace and not turn the ball over in the wet conditions.

Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees has been much sharper of late, but the running game will be a big part of Saturday's game with the weather.

Game time is 3:30pm ET as the game will be broadcast on NBC. You can watch the live online stream on NBC Sports Live Extra. OddsShark had Notre Dame as a 17 point favorite at opening. I feel the Fighting Irish will win, but look for a much closer game than what the odds have.
