As if we all needed one more reason to dislike The Killers (though Brandon Flowers' honesty kind of makes me like him more? Weird.), lead singer Flowers admitted in a track-by-track breakdown of their upcoming greatest hits album Direct Hits that the Vegas band stole the bassline for "All These Things That I've Done" from glam-pop godfather David Bowie.

"When that one was cooking I was really into U2's 'All That You Can't Leave Behind,'" he wrote about the track for NME. "I thought that was an amazing comeback for them, and I was blown away by how many great songs were on that record. There's an earnestness, spirit soul to U2, and I was trying to channel that. I wanted a song that stood up to those songs. We also took the bassline from a David Bowie song called 'Slow Burn', from Heathen, although enough time has probably passed now that I think he probably won't sue us!"

I don't think the statue of limitations is up on that one, but Bowie's a busy man what with The Next Day: Extra being released and working on remixes with James Murphy. Maybe he'll let it slide.

In other Killers-esque news, Flowers has announced plans to release a second solo album in 2015 once his current cycle with the Killers wraps up.

"I'm excited about going home. I'm looking forward to having a normal year," he said. "But, I'm going to write. I'm going to be filling those diamonds. It's my job. I'm just going to put my heart and soul into my solo record."

Flowers said he will spend 2014 working on the solo effort, tentatively due for the following year.

What do you think? Should The Killers be taken to task or was "All These Things That I've Done" worth a little thievery?
