The 6-3 Virginia Tech Hokies travel to Sun Life Stadium in Miami Saturday evening to take on the No. 11 Miami Hurricanes in a battle of ACC teams. The Hurricanes are coming off a disappointing loss to the Florida State Seminoles, giving them their first loss of the 2013 season. However, if the Hurricanes can rebound Saturday night and beat the Hokies, they could earn a second shot at the Seminoles later this season.

Miami had an opportunity last week to jump over Florida State into national title game contention, but instead, they were crushed 41-14. The Hurricanes; however, have a relatively easy schedule the rest of the way after tonight facing Duke, Virginia, and Pittsburgh. So they could end up with an 11-1 record and the Coastal Division title if they defeat Virginia Tech tonight and win the rest of the way.

Virginia Tech won't be an easy game though as Miami will be without their top playmaker, running back Duke Johnson, who is out the remainder of the season with a broken ankle. Backup running back Dallas Crawford has done well though as he has nine touchdowns this season and is averaging over four-yards-per-carry on 67 rushes.

The Hokies are coming off two straight losses to Duke and Boston College, but a win tonight will go a long way in salvaging their 2013 season. Neither team has shown an ability to be dominant in any facet of the game. I would go a step further and say that both teams have been sloppy at times this season, especially Virginia Tech, who has been very turnover prone.

OddsShark had the Hurricanes as 6.5 point favorites at the opening and I agree that this will end up being a very close game. Without their starting running back and the allure of an undefeated season behind them, I think the Hurricanes are in danger of dropping two straight. I am going to go with an upset win on the road for the Virginia Tech Hokies.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN and will start at 7pm ET. For fans that can't be by a TV, you can watch the online live stream via WATCHESPN.
