HBO's 'Game of Thrones' filmed the biggest season 4's 'Purple Wedding' scene, comparable to 'The Red Wedding' episode of 2013 [SPOILERS]

One of the most devastating and attention-getting episodes of the third season of HBO's Game of Thrones was the penultimate episode entitled "The Red Wedding." Without getting into too much detail, it was a huge turning point in the season and the whole series, really, as viewers had to say good-bye in a gruesome way to a few main characters. That said, we understood that a similar episode is on its way in 2014's fourth season, in what fans know as "The Purple Wedding." Now, thanks to a production blog update, we know that this scene has just been filmed. (SPOILERS to follow)

"The Purple Wedding" in the Game of Thrones storyline is the marriage ceremony between King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell, which doesn't go according to plan (to say the least). This will end up being the big moment of the 2014 episodes in season 4, thus bringing a conclusion to the next chapter of Game of Thrones.

In terms of principal cast members in attendance, the Royal Wedding was one of the largest scenes we've filmed since the premiere season, with 23 named parts appearing on any given day. In addition, we were delighted to welcome 218 extras as guests to the event, some of them travelling from the other side of Europe and the United States to be a part of the experience. Lookout for some familiar faces in the crowds - Pixie Le Knot is back this year, and one of our crew makes an appearance with the entertainers.
