David Beckham may be joining LeBron James in taking his talents down to South Beach. The two are currently in the process of bringing an MLS team to Miami.

James, whose interest in soccer has grown over the years, says he has had "preliminary talks" with Beckham about a possible team.

The Miami Heat star and four-time NBA MVP signed with Fenway Sports Management back in 2011. As a part of that deal, James obtained a small piece of Liverpool FC, one of the world's most famous soccer teams.

It was first reported last month that Beckham was interested in bringing an MLS team to Miami. Preliminary matters such as league approval must be first taken care of, however, Beckham began scouting Miami locations last week.

The Fusion, the last MLS team based in South Florida, played in Fort Lauderdale and crumpled in 2001.

James says he and Beckham have become good friends in recent years. David Beckham announced his retirement from professional soccer earlier this year.

"There's some interest on both sides," James said. "David has become a good friend of mine over the last few years. I think it would be great for this city to have a football club for sure. There's interest on both sides, but it's preliminary talks."

Miami already has four major professional teams. Who knows, ex-Miami Dolphin Chad Johnson may even join the band wagon and take part in bringing a team to Miami (since he loves soccer so much.)

How do you think an MLS team would do in Miami?
