Jay Leno sued by woman he accused of rat bestiality on a 2013 'Tonight Show' segment

According to a recent lawsuit against Jay Leno, a Long Island woman has accused the Tonight Show host of implying that she had inappropriate relations with a pet rat. This accusation comes as a result of some riffing from a previous episode of the late night NBC talk show during a "Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda" segment. This woman in question, Louann Giambattista, has apparently suffered a lot after this joke went too far.

In the complaint, filed in New York Supreme Court in Nassau County, former American Airlines flight attendant Louann Giambattista claims that a July 2013 episode of The Tonight Show picked up a story about her supposedly smuggling her pet rat onto work flights in her underwear and/or pantyhose. (Giambattista says that the story was the result of an alleged "relentless campaign of discrimination" by American Airlines.)

"Leno and his guests falsely accused Ms. Giambattista of engaging in sexual relations with a rat," the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit goes on to state that Giambattista and her husband, Steven Goldring, have become "pariahs in their own community, among their long-standing group of friends, among their co-workers and even among family." 

It doesn't stop there. Apparently Leno's joking has managed to hurt the defendant in the bedroom as well.

"Every time he looks at her he thinks of Defendant Leno and the heinous segment depicting her as a sexual deviant," the suit says.
