Tom Hiddleston has become a fan favorite for his portrayal of Loki in Thor, The Avengers and Thor: The Dark World. The ending of Thor 2 led many fans to wonder what Loki's, and Hiddleston's, future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

[WARNING: THOR 2 SPOILERS AHEAD]

The ending of Thor 2 saw Loki on the throne of Asgard in the guise of Odin. It's unclear where Odin is or why no one (like Heimdall) notices the difference, but Loki finally has his throne. This, of course, raised the question of what's next for the mischievous villain.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Hiddleston said that he does not know what Marvel has in mind for him in future films.

"I really don't know what the long-term plan is, nor if there is one. You'd have to ask [Marvel Studios President of Production] Kevin Feige that question," Hiddleston said. "This could be the end of the line for me, or not. I genuinely don't know."

The actor was the main villain in The Avengers but he will not be back for The Avengers: Age of Ultron, a fact that he confirmed in the interview.

"All I can say to you is Avengers 2 is off the cards for me," Hiddleston said. "After that, we'll have to wait and see. I genuinely don't know."

There's a humorous scene in Thor: The Dark World in which Loki morphs into Captain America and Chris Evans makes a cameo appearance. It's an interesting scene because Evans had to play Loki pretending to be Captain America. Hiddleston offered a glimpse into the process of creating that scene.

"I don't want to reveal too much but I did it and then he saw me do it and then he did it," Hiddleston said. "It's his own interpretation."

On another humorous note, Screen Rant asked Hiddleston who he would want to play a Lady Loki, and the actor chose Jaimie Alexander because, in the comics, Loki comes back in Sif's body.

So the actor may not know what the future holds for him, but he hopes that he can continue to work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"This character is the god of mischief and so it's my job to turn up and have as much fun as I possibly can," Hiddleston said. "If I didn't enjoy that, I'd be in the wrong game."
