Daniel Day-Lewis' son appears to be going more of the rapping route than acting. VICE's music section Noizey posted a video of Gabe Day in his song "Green Auras," filmed on his Sarah Lawrence College campus. Noizey had no shortage of opinions to share, entitling the piece "Daniel Day Lewis Has a Son and He's Just as Bad as You'd Expect." (They've filed the video under "the worst things of all time.")

In the video, Day opens with, "It's been a hot minute since I've been in the game." Don't feel badly if you didn't know he was in the game to begin with -- Day is new to many of us. He speaks positively of "guidance through the music" with his idols J.Cole and Nas, and "staying true to what I do." He raps of haters trying to blow things up because he keeps it calm. And he will get his share of negative feedback for statements in the song like:

"I know what my name is/And sh-t I know what fame is/ Judging someone for their dad is just as bad as being racist."

All in all, it doesn't seem like Day is trying to purposefully stir things up in a bad way. There are a lot of weed references and talk of the "green auras" bringing you down when you try to self-medicate. He certainly opens up with lines like, "We all have our demons, they come and go like seasons." Should this video be taken more seriously than it's initially being received? You can decide for yourself in the video below.

The video has gotten over 70,000 views so far and mixed reviews...Would you give it a thumbs up or thumbs down? Do you think it's brave for Day to be making these statements, or do you think it sounds whiny like the critics have been saying?
