It was announced on Thursday that Julia Roberts, 46, will be honored at the Palm Springs International Film Festival with the Spotlight Award. The festival is celebrating its 25th edition and runs from Jan. 3 - 13, and her award will be presented on Jan. 4.

Roberts stars in The Weinstein Co.'s August: Osage County, an Oscar hopeful.

The Hollywood Reporter released a statement PSIFF chairman Harold Matzner:

"Julia Roberts is a consummate actress with a range as vast as her talent," he said. "Her ability to consistently give standout performances over the past 25 years is remarkable."

It's true. The Pretty Woman star has been a part of a vast collection of culturally relevant films. Her career has been unwavering, and she never went crazy, although, some would challenge that statement citing her marriage to Lyle Lovett in the early '90s.

THR highlighted the films that have made the megastar who she is today.

"Since her big screen breakthrough in Donald Petrie's Mystic Pizza (1988), she has headlined Herbert Ross' Steel Magnolias (1989), Garry Marshall's Pretty Woman (1990), Steven Spielberg's Hook (1991), Alan J. Pakula's The Pelican Brief (1993), Neil Jordan's Michael Collins (1996), P.J. Hogan's My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), Roger Michell's Notting Hill (1999), Marshall's Runaway Bride (1999), Steven Soderbergh's Erin Brockovich (2000), Ocean's Eleven (2001) and Ocean's Twelve (2004), Mike Nichols' Closer (2004) and Charlie Wilson's War (2007), Tony's Gilroy's Duplicity (2009), Marshall's Valentine's Day (2010) and Ryan Murphy's Eat Pray Love (2010). She won the best actress Oscar for Brokovich and was nominated for an Oscar on two other occasions: best supporting actress for Steel Magnolias (1989) and best actress for Pretty Woman (1990)."

The festival will also award Steve McQueen with the honor of Director of the Year for 12 Years a Slave.  Matthew McConaughey will receive the Desert Palm Award, Actor, for Dallas Buyers Club, and Sandra Bullock will get Desert Palm Award, Actress, for her role in Gravity.
