Fox will be making some midseason scheduling changes to its Tuesday night primetime lineup. Deadline reports that the changes are coming after a disappointing fall season for their Tuesday night comedy bock featuring the new Andy Samberg sitcom "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "New Girl," "Dads," and "The Mindy Project." News of lineup changes and shows going on hiatus is often a bad sign for TV shows.

While TV executives are paid the big bucks for a reason, it seems far too often the networks will panic after some low ratings and start overthinking the situation. This is when they starting putting shows on hiatus or moving them around. Sometimes, this is the worst thing a network can do.

Deadline reports that Fox will be scaling back their Tuesday night comedy block from two hours to just one starting on Feb. 25. "Glee" will be moved back to Tuesday at the 8pm slot. Following "Glee" will be "New Girl" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." It seems the loser in this entire situation will be "The Mindy Project" which reportedly hit a new low in the ratings this past week. Hopefully the hiatus will help "The Mindy Project" and the beloved sitcom can bounce back and avoid the same fate as ABC's "Happy Endings."

"The Mindy Project" will now go on a hiatus after their mid-season finale on Jan. 28, and then return on April 1 after "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" finishes up their first season. When changes like this happen, it's often never a good sign for the shows that have to change time slots or go on hiatus. Simply put, if the show is doing well, it should stay in its time slot. It seems there are a number of shows, mainly "Glee" and "The Mindy Project" that aren't doing well. No matter how much fans love the show and how critically acclaimed they are it all comes down to the ratings.
