In case you missed it 1D Day was on Nov. 23 and among the festivities was a "wrestling match" between One Direction's Liam Payne and former WWE wrestler and current TNA star Kurt Angle. 1D Day was set up to promote the upcoming release of the boy band's latest album Midnight Memories. 1D Day consisted of seven hours of One Direction including appearances from the boy band members themselves, special guest appearances by Celine Dion, Simone Cowell, and others, funny sketches, fan interaction, and 1D performances!

For those who don't know, pro-wrestler Kurt Angle was also an Olympic gold medal winning wrestler, so he is has quite the resume and can probably take on 98% of the world in a one-on-one match. However, Payne went all out for the wrestling match/tutorial. Payne showed up in a full lucha libre suit with his own nickname, the "Payne Train."

One thing many casual fans may not know about Payne is he actually started taking up boxing lessons at the age of 12, so Payne is no ordinary boy band member. And as you can see in the video below of Angle and Payne's wrestling match/tutorial, Payne is an impressive athlete. Although I would have my doubts about how Payne would hold up in a 30-minute main event TNA match against Angle, Payne far surpassed my expectations.

As wrestling fans can attest to, there are some pro-wrestlers who have been performing for years that can't even pull off the moves Payne did during his one minute tutorial with Angle. Sure it was just a silly promotional match, but Payne looked like he has some serious wrestling skills. He already clearly has the look and the charisma. Who knows, maybe the "Payne Train" has a future in pro-wrestling. TNA Wrestling sure could use the promotion.

Below is the video from Payne and Angle's match/tutorial.
